Stray From the Path

As someone who is studying sociology this is going to be something that goes a little away from what is expected. Sometimes in life we need to recognize what is needed for us. Sometimes we have to stray away from the norm and from what everyone else is doing.

In society we see so many expectations. We might be expected to the follow crowd and to go with what everyone is doing, but sometimes that is not going to help us. Sometimes in order to grow or to do well we have to change the path we are on and we go against the path that society has laid out for us. Sometimes by straying from the path we are able to find who we are destined to be and we become happy. 

If you are struggling to fit with in with those who are around all the time do not worry. Maybe you are not meant to be like them. Let it be and stay true to who you are. Why conform to others when you are not meant to conform?

Are Things Not Where You Want Them?

Sometimes life has a way of changing the plans that we have. It can seem hard and overwhelming because we have are heart set on one thing. That one thing is all we have wanted. But remember that sometimes there is something better something bigger for us. We cannot always see it but there is always something out there that will be better for us.

Three years ago I wanted to be a social worker. I was in the process of getting my degree. I was a junior and was beginning to look at graduate programs. I was told that I was not cutting it in the program. Devastated I began to look at what other programs at my college I could switch too. I found at that point that I had a bigger passion for another field. I found a program that I was happier and more free in. I found a new path for life. Had I not gone through this situation I would not see that there is something better out there for me.

Realize that there are better things. It may take time to see what is going to be better for us but it will come. We do not always see it but it will come.

Be Happy

Sometimes we get ourselves lost in what we are doing and we forget to be happy. While it is hard to find time to do what we love and what makes us happy, we need to remember to do what makes us happy. We need to find the time to have fun and to be happy.

Who am I?

Often times we go through life without knowing who we are. Often we go through life wondering what others see in us. Often we are going through life and thinking that what others see in us is not true. Though it is. We have to learn to see what others see in us. Knowing what others see in us can be a big help in our self identity. 

It is hard to identify with what others see in you. One of the best things that I found to help me with realizing and identifying with what others see in me is to say it to myself or write it out and put it up around my apartment. I have gotten to where I write in my journal with what and who I am so that I can start to identify with it. I also tell it to myself too. 

If people see you as loving, caring, happy, energetic, or smart, or something else tell yourself this. Believe it or not it can also help you to change your mood if you tell yourself these things. Often when I am upset or when I feel that I don't matter I will focus one aspect one characteristic
and tell myself it over and over. Maybe I will find why I am loved and I will say that with the reasons or I will focus on being smart. Honestly just take it one characteristic at a time. 

Slowly doing this you will learn who you are too others.

Live Your Life; Don't Lose Your Fight



We have all been there. We have all been to the point where we feel that we cannot have an impact or that we do not the have the fight to keep going. I have found this song a constant reminder that we can get through whatever. That no matter how small we are and how we think that we will not have an impact we can and we will have an effect. Just smiling at a person can have an impact. Talking to a friend or someone close to you can have a lasting impact. 

Also remember that when you find what you love in life that can and will propel you to fight harder in life. When you love something it makes life even more worth living.

Why tomorrow? Why not today ?

Someday I'll change my outlook. Someday I'll find the right person or career. Someday I'll travel. Someday I'll be happy. Someday I'll love myself. Someday I'll love life. Why is it someday? Why is not I'll do it now? We are so focused on the idea that we will do something tomorrow or someday that we forget that someday may not come. Don't give it that chance. Live in the now. Don't take some moments for granted, be grateful for TODAY. Life can pass you by so take the opportunity now and when it happens. 

In 2015 I spent my last semester of college sick. I was constantly  close to passing out. There were many days that I had to force myself to go to class and to even get out of bed. I was in the health office every week and sometimes I was even in multiple times a week. We never did find what was wrong. While we did  not find it, I was scared. That semester showed that I needed to enjoy the small things because who knew what I'd miss if  I stayed in bed. Yes I wanted to sleep and my body probably needed it, but I only have one senior year in college and that also implies that I only have one life and the small things count. Not only do the small things count but life counts don't let it go by and lose the some days, those some days are now and you can fulfill the some days today. You never know where you will be tomorrow.
